Held in the hallowed grounds of the magnificent Trashichhodzong, the seat of governance in the capital, Thimphu tshechu is held in the month of October, usually to mark the season of harvest. The main attraction is the grand Thongdroel (giant embroidered thankas) that is unfurled in the final day. It is believed that witnessing the unfurling of the thanka will rid one of their sins and will bring liberation at sight.
