The old manor-like Bhutanese houses and structures are usually made of rammed earth, rock and timber. An interesting facet of our architectures is that no nails were used in the construction of houses and other structures (dove-tail technique) in the past. The houses are also adorned with giant paintings of phalluses that are believed to ward of negative energy and evil spirits. For a uniquely Bhutanese experience, we will arrange for custom farmhouses and home stay experience complete with a traditional hot stone bath and a meal with a Bhutanese family.
